Is there a minimum order quantity (MOQ) for smart toy manufacturing? MOQ is set by tooling economics, not by ISZ.AI policy. Injection-molded parts require a production run large enough to justify mold cost, so we size the first order against your retail commitment and help you plan a production run that avoids paying for unused tooling capacity.

How long does certification typically take? Safety certification (ASTM F963, EN71), drop testing, and materials compliance run in parallel with tooling and firmware finalization rather than after it, so certification itself doesn’t usually become the critical path — the overall 9-18 month project timeline already accounts for it.

Who owns the toy’s design and the underlying IP? For ODM engagements, you own the resulting product design once it’s developed under our agreement, including the character’s voice model and behavior rules if built specifically for your program. ISZ.AI retains its own engineering methods, reusable hardware reference designs, and manufacturing know-how, the way any development partner retains its internal tooling.

What drives tooling cost, and is there a typical range? Because these variables differ so much by product, we scope tooling cost against your specific design rather than quoting a flat number that would mislead more products than it would help.

What’s the difference between OEM and ODM for a smart toy? OEM means you bring a finished design and we manufacture it to spec; ODM means we design the toy from concept, including character engineering and hardware architecture, and you take the finished design to market. Most conversational AI toys are ODM, because the character can’t be finalized independently of the hardware that has to run it.
